Artist Bio

I have been creating art since I was 5 years old. Traditionally trained as a designer and illustrator, I attended Kent State University, Akron University and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BA in Art. Later I returned to school to receive my teacheršs certification at Texas A&M, Commerce, Texas.

I am a self taught painter, computer user, and website designer. Since leaving graphic design after an 15 year career, I have taught community college and also now teach in public school.

I plan to continue my creative journey with imagery I create partly from photographs I take and combine with drawing, painting, and digital enhancements. I print the images using archival canvas and ink. Originals are 48"x 36" and subsequent prints are 16" x 20" with an Edition of 25.

I am interested in figures that interact with environment, creating a poignant, mysterious vision. Using design and color, my imagery is commanding, whimsical and sometimes disturbing. I am available for freelance assignments and commissioned artwork. To request a quote, e-mail to hoormandesign@verizon.net.
